Director & Middle School Teacher

Kristin Johnson brings over 25 years of experience in education to her dual role as Director and Middle School Teacher at The Learning Academy of Teton Valley. Now entering her 21st year at the school, Kristin joins Dani in being a cornerstone of the LATV community—known for her approachable leadership and unwavering dedication to helping students develop into their best selves.

Kristin appreciates and understands the dynamic world of middle school education. She thrives on the energy, honesty, and lovable quirks that define this unique age group. Whether she’s leading a classroom discussion, creating exciting thematic curriculum, planning engaging project-based learning experiences, organizing off-campus adventures, or simply sharing a laugh, she brings humor, heart, and a deep respect for the immense growth that happens during the middle school years. Her yurt classroom is a space where students feel safe being themselves and where they are encouraged to work hard, be curious, and care deeply about each other and the world around them.

Outside of school, Kristin lives life just as fully. Though she grew up in northern Maine, she has called Teton Valley home for nearly 25 years. She shares her adventures with her husband, Larry, their teenage daughter, Lila, and their super crazy, but oh so lovable dog, Cooper. Whether cheering from the sidelines as a soccer mom, hitting the mountain as a freeride ski team mom, or soaking up the salt air as a surfer mom, Kristin is all about showing up for her people—and bringing that same energy and encouragement to her school community.

She loves gardening, live music, rock climbing, skiing, cooking for family and friends, road trips, and being anywhere outside or near water, especially the ocean. Adventure, travel, great food, and learning in every moment aren’t just her passions—they’re values she shares with her students every day.

Kristin’s approach to teaching and leadership is rooted in connection. She believes in guiding and nurturing students who are not only confident and capable—but also compassionate, engaged, and ready to make a difference in their world.

Welcome to The Learning Academy of Teton Valley! We are honored that you are considering our school for your child’s educational journey. Located in Driggs, Idaho, our campus serves students from preschool through eighth grade and offers a nature-based, individualized learning environment where children are encouraged to explore, create, and grow at their own pace.
