Rich Education Goes Far Beyond Core Academics

Enrichment Programs

At The Learning Academy, we believe a rich education goes far beyond core academics. Our students are artists, musicians, performers, makers, scientists, and storytellers. Our enrichment programs are thoughtfully designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and give children many ways to express who they are.

Drama

In drama class, students step into new roles—literally and imaginatively. Through theater games, improvisation, and storytelling, they explore how to use their voices, bodies, and emotions to communicate. These classes build more than just acting skills—they foster confidence, creativity, teamwork, and self-expression. From reader’s theater and short scenes to full stage productions, students learn about props, stage space, and what it means to be part of a performance.

    Art

Art is woven into every grade level, every week. Students explore color, texture, and form while also diving into art history and the lives of master artists. We work with a wide range of materials—from clay and watercolor to collage and found objects—giving students many ways to bring their ideas to life. At The Learning Academy, we believe every child is an artist.

    Dance & Movement

Movement is part of our daily rhythm. From creative dance and yoga to mindful stretching, students have the opportunity to express themselves physically and release energy in healthy ways. Movement supports focus, emotional regulation, and body awareness—and it’s a joyful way to start or break up the day.

      Music

Our music program blends instruments, singing, rhythm, and movement into a joyful, hands-on experience. Preschoolers start with rhythm sticks, bells, and drums. Lower elementary students learn to play the recorder, and older students may learn the ukulele. Throughout the year, students are introduced to instruments like the guitar, mandolin, and banjo. They explore musical concepts through listening, creating, and performing, developing a lasting appreciation for the beauty and power of music.

        Living History

We bring the past to life in ways that are engaging, interactive, and deeply memorable. Students explore historical eras through hands-on activities like candle making, leather tooling, journal binding, moccasin making, and even cabin construction. By stepping into the daily life of another time, students connect more deeply with the people, stories, and innovations that shaped our world.

          Science Enrichment

Beyond our regular science curriculum, we offer hands-on enrichment experiences that let students experiment, explore, and create. From launching rockets and building machines to making polymers and conducting chemical reactions, these sessions help bring scientific concepts to life in fun and memorable ways.

          Mindfulness & Meditation

Each week, students are invited to slow down and tune in through mindfulness practices and guided meditation. These moments of calm help them build focus, develop self-awareness, and learn how to manage big emotions—a gift they can carry with them far beyond the classroom.

          Culinary Arts

Cooking is a creative, practical, and sensory-rich learning experience. Students prepare everything from homemade bread to full cultural meals. Along the way, they learn to measure, follow recipes, prepare ingredients, and explore food safety and nutrition. Our culinary program connects students to the joy of real food and the life skills that come with preparing it.

School Events & Connecting with Our Families

We believe that school is more than just a place to learn—it’s a community. That’s why we love bringing families together through a variety of fun and meaningful events throughout the year. From our Back-to-School Open House to the Last Day BBQ, each event is a chance to connect, celebrate, and make memories together.

Some of our favorite traditions include Parents and Pumpkins in the fall, our annual Halloween Carnival, and the whimsically fun Mad Hatter Tea Party for Valentine’s Day. We go green with our St. Patrick’s Day Extravaganza, come together for a Thanksgiving Feast, and proudly showcase our students’ creativity at our annual Art Show and End-of-Year Performance.

These moments aren’t just about having fun (though we do plenty of that!)—they’re about sharing the school experience with our families, celebrating our students, and building a strong, supportive community.
