Dani Wilson

Founder / Lower Elementary Teacher

Dani Wilson is the founder of The Learning Academy of Teton Valley and a dedicated Lower Elementary teacher with over 25 years of experience in alternative, child-centered education. Her vision, leadership, and unwavering commitment to nurturing the whole child have shaped LATV into the thriving, joyful learning community it is today. In 2024, Dani was honored as one of Idaho’s Women of Influence—recognition of her transformative impact on education and her continued efforts to create meaningful, student-first learning environments.

Miss Dani Wilson, owner and founder of the Learning Academy

A lifelong learner herself, Dani takes courses every year to stay at the forefront of child development, education theory, and innovative teaching practices. She believes that every child deserves a joyful, nurturing environment where they can grow in both confidence and capability.

Dani specializes in early math and literacy instruction and has a remarkable talent for helping young learners build strong number sense and reading fluency. She’s especially gifted at reaching students who feel “stuck” in math, offering multiple pathways to understanding and helping each child find a strategy that works for them.

Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Dani grew up near Portland, Oregon, as a wild and imaginative child who loved ponies and escaping into good books. Her very first horse was named Hershey, sparking a lifelong love of animals and time outdoors. As a young girl, she also picked up an unusual talent—playing the accordion, which she still does today (but only for her students). After teaching in public schools, Dani followed her dream and founded The Learning Academy to create the kind of learning space she once needed herself: nurturing, creative, and filled with possibility.

Today, she lives in Teton Valley with her husband, Todd. Together, they have two daughters, two sons, and seven wonderful grandchildren. At home, Dani is surrounded by her animals, including miniature donkeys, a pig, and her beloved dogs. When she’s not teaching, she enjoys riding horses, gardening (especially tending to her two somewhat reluctant tomato plants), and soaking up the sunshine. Her favorite color is yellow—because, as she says, it feels like joy.

The Learning Academy is incredibly fortunate to be guided by Dani’s wisdom, heart, and creativity. Her presence continues to enrich the lives of students, families, and fellow educators every single day.

Welcome to The Learning Academy of Teton Valley! We are honored that you are considering our school for your child’s educational journey. Located in Driggs, Idaho, our campus serves students from preschool through eighth grade and offers a nature-based, individualized learning environment where children are encouraged to explore, create, and grow at their own pace.
