Alexa Nicolaus

Preschool & Lower School Support Staff

Alexa Nicolaus brings over 16 years of experience working with children in both one-on-one and classroom settings. Her background includes teaching French Pre-K, supporting elementary students, and working closely with children with special needs. After spending the last two and a half years at home raising her son, William, Alexa is excited to begin her first year at The Learning Academy of Teton Valley.

Originally from the Washington, D.C. area, Alexa moved to France with her family at the age of seven, attending a French school and becoming bilingual at a young age. This early immersion sparked a lifelong interest in language acquisition—especially in young children. After returning to the U.S., her family settled in Boston. Alexa later attended college in Nashville before moving to New York City, where she lived for eight years. In 2017, she and her husband relocated to Wyoming, drawn by the natural beauty and slower pace of life.

Alexa now lives in Teton Valley with her husband, their son William, and their two golden retrievers. She loves spending time outdoors with her family—walking, biking, swimming, and exploring nature together. She also has a strong creative side and enjoys painting, drawing, and bookbinding in her free time.

One of Alexa’s favorite parts of teaching is seeing the world through a child’s eyes. Whether it’s watching a garden grow or observing ants at work, she finds joy and wonder in the way children experience the world. She strives to nurture curiosity and awe in her students, encouraging them to connect with nature and the small miracles found in everyday life.

The Learning Academy is thrilled to welcome Alexa’s thoughtful approach, international perspective, and warm energy to its community.

Welcome to The Learning Academy of Teton Valley! We are honored that you are considering our school for your child’s educational journey. Located in Driggs, Idaho, our campus serves students from preschool through eighth grade and offers a nature-based, individualized learning environment where children are encouraged to explore, create, and grow at their own pace.
